A 10-kilometer race will be staged at Lake Tahoe this spring in which the top male and female finishers each will receive $500,000.

The winners-take-all race May 24 will be televised nationally by ABC-TV, according to director Len Wallach.

Wallach said at a news conference that a 10-kilometer race will be held in each of the 50 states to qualify 50 men and 50 women for the event, known as Super Run II America’s Race. Super Run I, held in 1984 at Las Vegas, paid $500,000 each to amateur winners from Colorado and South Dakota.
