Visitors to the Anaheim Convention Center bent on gambling may soon get that chance.
City officials on Tuesday approved selling lottery tickets at the center--a move that would make Anaheim the first city in the county to go into the lottery business.
Estimates on profits to the city varied widely--from $29,000 to $408,000.
Ronald M. Rothschild, program development and audit manager, said in a report that some sites that sell lottery tickets across the county reported that as many as two-thirds of the customers bought up to seven tickets each. On the other hand, as few as one-sixth of the customers purchased only two tickets each, Rothschild wrote in his report.
The state Lottery Commission has indicated preliminary approval of the city’s application.
