San Diego Company Is Top MIRM Winner

McKellar Development of La Jolla, based in San Diego, won a Grand Award for “best overall marketed project” for builders in the 75-to-250-annual volume category here at the seventh annual national MIRM Awards program.

In addition, California firms won six Gold Awards and more than 40 Silver Merit awards for marketing and advertising excellence at a program held during the National Assn. of Home Builders convention.

MIRM awards honor marketing and merchandising achievements by residential builders and are presented by the Institute of Residential Marketing.

McKellar’s award was for its Casablanca project; the advertising agency was the Grayson Agency, San Diego.

Gold awards went to: the Valencia Co., Arbor Park Collection, for best brochure for a project with an average sales price under $125,000; Mission Viejo Co. for Mission Viejo Community, best color advertisement, full page or smaller; Crismar Homes, Santa Monica, for Applewilde Hills, best sales office, 500 square feet or smaller.

Others were Jack Nicklaus Development Corp. of Calif., Murrieta, Calif., Bear Creek Golf & Country Club, best sales pavilion for master-planned community; the Fieldstone Co., Newport Beach, Harbor Point, best interior merchandising/detached product over $125,000, and Ticor Title Insurance, Oxnard, best merchandising program by a supplier within building industry, in-house advertising.

Silver Merit awards, in some cases more than one to a firm, went to McKellar Development, San Diego; the Buie Corp., Laguna Niguel; Leisure Technology Inc., Los Angeles; DiGiorgio Development Corp., San Diego; Intercom, Newport Beach; Mission Viejo Co.; Carlsberg Capital Funding, Santa Monica; Anden Corp., Sherman Oaks.

Also, Bryan Hardwick Associates, Palos Verdes; Crismar Homes, Santa Monica; Aram Bassenian & Associates, Newport Beach; Impact Images Inc., Santa Ana; Carole Eichen Interiors, Santa Ana; the Fieldstone Co., Newport Beach; Robert Zuckerman, Santa Monica; Karen Butera Inc., Palo Alto; Bergheer Co./Raznick & Sons; Danielian Associates, Newport Beach, and Corbin/Yamafuji & Partners, Irvine.
