Rowland Heights : Reward Offered in Arson

Share

The Rowland Unified School District is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever set fires in three schools.

Fires caused about $800,000 in damage at Blanford Elementary School in Rowland Heights on Dec. 30, at Hurley Elementary School in La Puente on Aug. 31 and Alvarado Intermediate School in Rowland Heights on April 13 last year.

“Our insurance rates are skyrocketing and monies to repair the damage must come from instructional program funds,” Supt. Stan Oswalt said. “Besides the tremendous cost involved, we find it very difficult to explain to the young . . . why their classrooms are being destroyed.” Anyone with information can telephone the district at (818) 956-2541 or the Industry sheriff’s station at (818) 330-3322.
