Lady Bird Johnson in Hospital After Fainting at Funeral
Lady Bird Johnson was in good spirits today in a hospital after a fainting spell, but doctors do not know why the former First Lady collapsed during funeral services for a long-time Austin newscaster, a spokeswoman said.
Johnson, 73, was admitted to St. David’s Community Hospital on Wednesday for observation and tests after the fainting spell and will undergo further tests today, officials said. She fainted while attending services for Paul Bolton, 82, the first television newscaster in central Texas and a longtime employee of the then-Johnson-owned radio and television stations, KTBC and KTBC-TV, now KLBJ.
The former First Lady also stumbled and fell Tuesday night while walking along Town Lake in downtown Austin, skinning her knee, which was in a splint at the funeral, KLBJ said.
