Courses ranging from hot air ballooning to losing a New York accent offer students at the Learning Annex here an opportunity to acquire a skill and to enhance their lives.

Developed in 1980 by two New Yorkers, Bill Zanker, 30, and Jules Leventhal, 31, the new approach to adult education provides instruction in such diverse areas as understanding newspaper financial pages, auto maintenance, bartending and fire walking.
