Driver, 89, Has Smashing Road Test
An 89-year-old man who smashed into two parked cars while taking his driving test says he hasn’t given up hope of having his license renewed.
“I’m just so damned old, but I need to drive,” Harry L. Gilmore said last week. “I drive over to the bank and grocery store, and that’s it.”
Damage to the two parked cars was estimated at $6,000 and Gilmore was charged with careless driving.
But he still left with a temporary permit that will allow him to “brush up on his skills and take a re-test,” said Richard Weaver of the State Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.
