Georgia Firm Acquires Major Electronics Corp.

Share

Van Nuys-based Major Electronics Corp. has been merged into Video Display Corp. of Stone Mountain, Ga. Both companies manufacture and distribute replacement cathode ray tubes for televisions and computer screens.

The purchase price was about $5 million in debt assumption, equity and cash, said Ron Ordway, chief executive of Video Display.

No changes are planned for Major Electronics’ 60 employees in Van Nuys, or for its 65 workers at a Pennsylvania manufacturing plant, Ordway said. Video Display employs 150 workers in Florida, Georgia and Louisiana.

Ordway said the deal will help both companies enhance their market size. Major Electronics had sales last year of about $10 million and Video Display’s sales were nearly $15 million, he said.
