Datapower Inc., a Santa Ana manufacturer of power supplies for computers, reported a $346,000 loss for the third quarter of fiscal 1986 compared with a year-earlier profit of $8,000. It was the fourth consecutive quarterly loss for the company, which has been hit by the industrywide slump in sales of personal computers and computer equipment.

Revenues for the third quarter ended Dec. 31 were $1.9 million, down 49% from $3.8 million. The company attributed the revenue decline to cancellations of purchase orders by several major customers, including Apple Computer.

Datapower officials said the same adverse factors contributed to Datapower posting a combined loss of $898,000 for the first three quarters of fiscal 1986, compared with net income of $590,000 for the same period in fiscal 1985. Revenues for the nine months totaled $5.2 million, plummeting 58% from $12.3 million a year ago.

Datapower controller Vance White said the company anticipates more quarterly losses but hopes to return to the black in the third quarter of fiscal 1987 with an infusion of revenues from a new product line and from new production contracts it expects to sign with Santa Clara-based Versatec Inc. and with Edge Computer Inc. of Scottsdale, Ariz.
