Crediting acceptance of its broadened line of computer systems for professional business customers, Quality Systems Inc. of Tustin said Tuesday that it returned to profitability in the third quarter of its fiscal 1986 with net income of $119,500, compared to a year-earlier loss of $68,900.

In the period ended Dec. 31, 1985, Quality Systems, a small supplier of computer systems to dental practices, had revenues of $2.7 million, unchanged from the year before.

For the first nine months of the fiscal year, the company posted a profit of $257,500, compared to a loss of $506,000 in the prior year. Revenues were $7.7 million, up 4% from the $7.4 million posted the year before.

Although the company expressed disappointment that “sales were not quite up to expectations,” it said its return to profitability was due to both cost-cutting efforts and increasing customer acceptance of its new products.
