Neither Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev nor comedian Bill Cosby will be Stanford University’s commencement speaker, despite being one-two in a campus poll on whom should be invited. Cosby, who was asked last week by senior class leaders, said he is scheduled to perform in Los Angeles on June 15, the date of the commencement. The Russian government previously indicated that Gorbachev probably will not come to the United States until fall for a summit meeting.
