Certron Corp. Rebounds After Closing Last Plant

Share

Largely because of savings from the closure of one of its plants last summer, Certron Corp. of Anaheim reported a first-quarter profit of $122,000, reversing its $95,000 loss in the prior-year period.

For the quarter ended Jan. 31, revenues for the floppy disk and audio and video tape maker were $8.1 million, about 32% higher than the $6.1 million recorded the year before.

The company attributed its improved results to increased sales and the savings it realized from closing the last of its Orange County manufacturing plants in August in favor of buying its products from the Far East. The company said its floppy disks, which are used in desk-top computers, and its videocassette tape products were its best-selling lines.
