Lawrence Taylor Reported to Be in Drug Center
Lawrence Taylor, the New York Giants’ All-Pro linebacker, is reportedly undergoing treatment for cocaine abuse in a drug rehabilitation center, according to ABC Radio.
Neither the Giants nor the National Football League’s official treatment facility, the Hazelden clinic in Center City, Minn., would confirm if Taylor, a five-time All-Pro, is a patient there.
Taylor’s mother, Iris, told the Associated Press Friday: “I’m really shocked. I hadn’t heard about the report. I really don’t know anything about that. I don’t know what to say.”
ABC Radio said its information came from “the best possible sources.”
Said Ed Croke, the Giants’ public relations director: “It’s come up about five or six times the past month. We’d have no comment on it at all. We’ve had no comment each time.”
Taylor had 104 tackles and 13 1/2 quarterback sacks last season.
