Arizona State Wins Fullerton Gymnastics Meet
Fourth-ranked Arizona State compiled its second-highest score of the season with 278.35 points to defeat Cal State Fullerton (270) and San Jose State (250.05) Friday night in Fullerton’s Titan Gym.
Dan Hayden and John Sweeney led Arizona State. Hayden won the pommel horse with a 9.75 score and the rings with a 9.60. Sweeney won the all-around competition with a total of 55.65 points.
Fullerton’s Ric Draghi was second in the all-around with 54.60 and Mark Bowers of Arizona State was third with 54.25. Draghi also won the high bar with a 9.60. The Titans’ Russell Lacy had a consistent day, placing third in floor exercise (9.45), rings (9.30) and vault (9.55).
