Fruitful Association With Texaco

Share

I would like to express my appreciation for the comprehensive articles on the Pennzoil-Texaco legal dispute published on Jan. 19.

I am a holder of Texaco common stock which came to me from the estate of my deceased father. My father’s association with Texaco dates back about 75 years.

I wholeheartedly concur with one particular statement in the articles--that Texaco has diligently worked, with considerable success, to increase the wealth of its shareholders. Moreover, at times of family crises and needs, Texaco was always there with generous benefits such as very good health insurance coverage and an excellent pension plan geared to keep pace with mounting inflation. I feel I owe a deep debt of gratitude to Texaco.

So, Texaco is called aloof and a tough competitor. Isn’t that the name of the game? Isn’t that the basis of the free enterprise system that has made this country great?
