A retired judge who believes that abortion is wrong suddenly must reexamine his stand because of the unwanted pregnancies of his younger second wife and of his unmarried daughter.

That’s the plot of “Choices,” an “ABC Theater” drama airing Monday from 9 to 11 p.m. on Channels 7, 3, 10, 42.

George C. Scott is the judge who has retired after a distinguished career and looks forward to traveling and enjoying a relaxing, peaceful life with his second wife (Jacqueline Bisset). When his daughter (Melissa Gilbert) from a previous marriage becomes pregnant and wants an abortion, he is adamantly opposed.

Then comes the unexpected news that he himself is to be a father. The decisions that must be made are accompanied with emotional revelations by everyone involved.

David Lowell Rich directed this Judith Parker teleplay for producer Robert Halmi.
