First baseman Wally Joyner and right-handed pitcher D.W. Smith have signed for 1986 with the Angels.

Joyner, 23, hit .283 for Edmonton of the Pacific Coast League last season with 12 home runs and 73 RBIs.

Playing in the Puerto Rican winter league with Mayaguez, he hit .356 with 14 homers and 48 RBIs in 54 games. He won the triple crown and was voted most valuable player.

Smith, 28, is going into his eighth season of professional baseball and his fifth with the Angels. He was 6-7 with 12 saves in 42 games for Edmonton last season and was with the Angels briefly late in the season.
