Microsemi Has 1st-Quarter Revenue of $9 Million

Microsemi Corp. said Wednesday that net earnings for its fiscal 1986 first quarter, ended Dec. 29, rose 44% to $1.3 million from $898,000. The Santa Ana supplier of semiconductor diodes, used in the defense, medical, communications and automotive industries, said revenue for the quarter totaled $9 million, up 9% from $8.2 million.

The first-quarter results include about $320,000 in extraordinary income from the sale of stock in an unrelated electronics manufacturer, said Philip Frey, company president.

Frey said increased sales to military customers, coupled with cost reductions and elimination of about $200,000 in losses at the company’s telecommunication division, accounted for the improved operating results during the quarter.
