Alhambra : Non-Dinner Aids Red Cross

Share

The Alhambra Chapter of the American Red Cross is taking “reservations” for an April Fools’ Day disaster relief campaign banquet, a fictitious gathering designed to do away with the costs of a banquet so that all proceeds from ticket sales can go toward helping victims of local and national disasters.

Area Red Cross officials say they do not have the funds to put on a banquet and the organization is facing a $20-million nationwide deficit in the wake of the severe 1985 hurricane season. The Alhambra Chapter has been called on to raise $40,000, and more than $8,000 in donations for the non-dinner have already been received. A program listing all donors will be sent out in April.

Those interested in contributing to the disaster program can call (818) 289-4414.
