TOKYO — The biggest snowstorm to hit Tokyo in two years blanketed the city Wednesday, sending cars skidding and pedestrians slipping and falling. Nearly 180 people were injured, officials said.
Almost 8 1/2 inches of snow disrupted train and plane service in a city that is accustomed to only light flurries.
The snow began Tuesday afternoon and continued through Wednesday morning, the heaviest fall to hit Tokyo since nearly 10 1/2 inches fell Feb. 19, 1984.
