Ashton-Tate said it is restructuring MultiMate.

Some MultiMate operations will continue in East Hartford, Conn., but about 70, or 35%, of the firm’s employees will be laid off during the next six months. Wilton H. Jones, president of MultiMate, will leave the company March 11. Production, distribution and marketing of MultiMate products will be done at Ashton-Tate’s headquarters in Torrance. The acquisition of MultiMate last year was the biggest ever in the software industry.
