Democratic State Treasurer Jesse M. Unruh officially announced his candidacy for a fourth term. As in the past, Unruh simply issued a brief statement noting that he had filed the necessary papers and asking for support based on his performance. The filing period will end next month. So far, no major Republican candidate has announced candidacy for the office. Unruh also has no major Democratic opposition in the primary.
