The New Jersey Generals of the USFL met with Everett Glenn, agent for Chicago Bears defensive end Richard Dent. President Jerry Argovitz of the Generals said, however, that he entered into the discussions without knowing that the Bears have an option on Dent’s contract.

“Once I found out he’s got an option year, it changed the entire scenario,” Argovitz said at a news conference. “We’re interested in putting Richard Dent in a New Jersey Generals’ uniform, but I’m not interested in signing him to a future contract at this time. I’m just going to sit back and play my cards for now.”
