Scott Skiles of Michigan State was sentenced in his hometown of Plymouth, Ind., to a 30-day jail term. The basketball star admitted violating probation on a 1985 drug conviction by purchasing alcoholic beverages in East Lansing, Mich., last November. He was subsequently arrested for drunken driving.
Skiles will be eligible for one day off for good behavior for each day he serves and could serve as few as 15 days. He was given the option of serving his time during spring break or during the summer. He is not expected to miss any basketball games.
