Kamansky Scores 36 in UCSD Win

Greg Kamansky scored 36 points, including a school-record 16 field goals, Saturday night to lead the UC San Diego men’s basketball team to an easy 108-87 win over Cal State San Bernardino at Triton Pavilion.

Four other players also scored in double figures for the Tritons as they improved their record to 14-11. Brian Backens scored 18, Jim Smith and Steve Reese each had 10 and Thor Dekker had 10 points and 9 rebounds.

The Tritons led, 47-35, at halftime and were never threatened in the second half.

Edwin Wimby had 22 points and 11 rebounds for CS Bakersfield (11-14), and Jeff Ames scored 19.

UCSD will play its final game of the season against United States International University at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Triton Pavilion.
