A subcommittee of the University of Minnesota’s assembly committee on intercollegiate athletics has determined that Terence Woods is ineligible to play basketball because of a violation of NCAA regulations.

The subcommittee found that regulations were violated when the school’s athletic department paid for a plane ticket for Woods last summer from Houston to Minneapolis, the St. Paul Pioneer Press and Dispatch reported. Wood repaid the school for the plane ticket eight months later.

John Clark, chairman of the assembly committee, said the school will recommend that Woods’ eligibility be reinstated immediately because the infraction was “innocent.”
