Hermosa Beach : Shuttle Memorial Fund
The City Council agreed on Tuesday night to create a Challenger Shuttle Memorial Trust Fund to collect donations while a committee decides how the city should honor the seven astronauts killed last month. Hermosa Beach resident Gregory Jarvis was among those killed.
The council voted to open an account at the Hermosa Beach branch of California Federal Savings & Loan Assn., which opened Wednesday at Plaza Hermosa. The council named City Manager Gregory Meyer and City Treasurer Norma Goldbach to oversee the fund.
