Monrovia : Police Tickets Can Be Fun
Startled drivers in Monrovia, who have done nothing wrong, are being stopped by the Police Department’s two motorcycle officers who, instead of writing tickets, are giving tickets. The tickets, purchased by the Monrovia Rotary Club, are to Mann’s theaters and they are a reward for exceptionally courteous or safe driving.
It’s hard for the officers to spot the good drivers, Police Chief Bill Tubbs said, because they are accustomed to being on the lookout for traffic violators. But, he said, the 200 tickets are being given out to about one driver each day and the program will last until the tickets run out.
