Downey : Superintendent’s New Role

The Downey Unified School District has approved an agreement to hire Supt. Manuel Gallegos as a consultant upon his retirement, which begins Saturday.
Gallegos will help orient a new superintendent, who has not been hired yet, on practices and procedures in the district. The agreement is expected to run from next Wednesday through Aug. 31 at a cost of $15,000.
The district hired a consultant to help it with the selection of a new superintendent. The deadline for applications was extended to Feb. 21.
