TUCSON, Ariz. —
Artificial heart recipient Bernadette Chayrez remained in critical but stable condition Wednesday, but her medication for pneumonia may be causing problems.
Chayrez, 40, the first person to receive artificial heart implants twice, is apparently weak and tired from the medication, which may also be affecting her kidneys, said Nina Trasoff of the University of Arizona Medical Center.
