Richard Manuel of The Band Kills Self

WINTER PARK, Fla. —
Pianist Richard Manuel, a founding member of The Band, apparently hanged himself a day after a performance by the popular ‘60s and ‘70s rock group in this Orlando suburb, police said today.
Manuel, 42, of Woodstock, N.Y., was found dead in the bathroom of his motel room Tuesday afternoon by his wife, Arlie, police said. Manuel’s wife called paramedics, but they were unable to revive him. No suicide note was found.
