Pico Rivera : Apartments Win Approval

Share

After a six-year struggle, developer Ramiro Duran has finally won approval for an 80-unit apartment complex at 4200 Rosemead Blvd.

Duran first proposed the $3-million project in 1980, but residents in a nearby housing tract complained that the apartments would not be compatible with the single-family homes in the area. They also warned that the project would create parking and traffic problems.

But the council recently approved the project after Duran agreed to locate a swimming pool in the center of the complex, redesign and relocate several carports and fence the entire project with decorative materials. Extra landscaping around the fence and in the project site was also required. Construction is expected to begin in June and take from six to eight months to complete.
