Venice : Bigger Library Proposed

Share

The new branch library planned for Venice Boulevard near Venice Way will be twice the size of the existing branch, according to Los Angeles City officials.

The 55-year-old library, at 610 California Ave., is too small and its collection of 30,000 books is inadequate for the community, officials said.

The new branch would be about 10,500 square feet; the existing facility has 5,581 square feet.

The proposed library would include an 85-seat study lounge, a 75-seat multipurpose room, a bike rack and a parking lot with 44 spaces. The California Avenue branch has five parking spaces. Construction is scheduled to begin in March, 1987, and be completed in March, 1988.
