Culver City Conventions Up From 1984

Share

The number of conventions in Culver City nearly doubled in 1985 over 1984, according to the city’s Convention and Visitor’s Bureau.

The city hosted 77 conventions in 1985 compared to 41 the previous year--an increase of almost 90%--mainly because of increased promotional efforts, said Tom Betts, a member of the bureau’s Board of Directors.

The bureau last year began pushing Culver City as a convention site with less traffic, crime and pollution and better proximity to Los Angeles International Airport than cities such as Los Angeles, Betts said.

Last year’s conventions in Culver City included General Telephone, the Army Corps of Engineers and Rockwell International.
