Lessons From the People of the Philippines

Share

Those of us who witnessed on television the recent Philippine crisis and the overthrow of the dictatorial Marcos regime saw a great and silent lesson that was taught to the world. We saw the courage, strength and wisdom of the Filipino minds that united them.

From the forming of the human barricade to the overtaking of the television station, they moved with skill and intelligence. They showed each of us that they didn’t need sophisticated university degrees to plan their strategy nor require nuclear and space weapons to achieve their freedom. Faith and wisdom were their mighty swords.

The Filipinos have taught the world that those who resort to violence to achieve their goals have not yet earned the credential of wisdom and therefore are not capable and ready to rule themselves.

Those who insist on the use of violence must now first evaluate their thoughts and way of life and try to unselfishly think of the lives and welfare of their fellow men. Only then can they reach a higher level of consciousness and receive the wisdom to independently free themselves.

Thank you, Philippines. May your light continue to shine on our troubled world.
