Tustin : 4 Foothill Students to Match Wits With Irish

Share

Four students from Foothill High School have been chosen to compete in a trans-Atlantic academic contest against four students from Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Nat Lamm of the Orange County Department of Education, which is organizing the contest, said that students Jim Wilhelm, Neal Mahutte, Larry Green and Anish Bhimani will compete against the Irish students via satellite hookup on March 21.

Lamm said the students from Foothill were chosen because that school had won the Orange County Academic Decathlon the past two years.

The competition will originate from US Telecom Corp.’s offices in downtown Los Angeles. The students will answer questions on biology, astronomy, geology, meteorology and oceanography, Lamm said.
