Miss O’Keeffe’s Ashes to Be Scattered in N. Mexico
Artist Georgia O’Keeffe’s ashes will be scattered in New Mexico, her longtime home, her attorney said.
The cremation was Friday, the day after Miss O’Keeffe’s death at the age of 98, lawyer Robert Worcester said. He said there was no funeral and no memorial service is planned. He would not say where her ashes will be scattered.
Miss O’Keeffe, a leading figure of 20th-Century American art, died at Santa Fe’s St. Vincent Hospital from complications of old age.
Worcester said Miss O’Keeffe hoped that if anyone wanted to make contributions in her name they would be made to the Abiquiu Elementary School, in the town where she had lived.
