The steelmakers said they will boost the base prices by $12 per net ton on hot-rolled products, $15 per net ton on cold-rolled products and $20 per net ton on galvanized and coated products. The increases, which become effective May 5, equal 2.9% for hot-rolled sheet, 3% for cold-rolled sheet and 3.7% for galvanized sheet. Last week, U.S. Steel Corp. announced similar price increases for its sheet steel products, which are used in automobiles, appliances and other consumer goods.
