Garden Grove : Mother Being Held in Suffocation of Baby

Share

Garden Grove police, alerted by a relative, arrested a 22-year-old Garden Grove woman on suspicion of suffocating her 3-month-old baby late Sunday.

Preliminary findings of an autopsy Monday indicated that the infant girl died of suffocation, Garden Grove investigators said.

The mother, identified as Tammy Lee Immings, 22, of Garden Grove, was booked into Orange County Jail after her brother called police Sunday night, said Sgt. Bruce Beauchamp. According to Beauchamp, Immings apparently awakened Robert Ray, the baby’s father with whom she lives, and told Ray that she had killed the child.

Ray, uncertain what to do, took Immings to her brother’s apartment nearby, Beauchamp said. There Immings reportedly told her brother “that she’d killed her baby,” Beauchamp said.

Immings has made no statement to police explaining the death, Beauchamp said.
