For Better Living Reports Net Income of $43,000

For Better Living Inc. said net income for its fiscal year ended Dec. 28 fell to $43,000, from $1.9 million in the prior year.

The San Juan Capistrano-based company attributed the decline in part to a substantial write-down on the value of its oil and gas reserves which offset “significant growth in sales and profitability” of its concrete and plastic products group.

Revenue for the year totaled $47.1 million, compared with $36.1 million for the prior year.

For the fourth quarter, the company reported a $751,000 net loss, compared with a net loss of $290,000 in the fourth quarter of 1984. Revenue for the quarter totaled $12.5 million, compared with $9.3 million for the same period a year earlier.
