Soviet Space Station Linkup Set for Today
Cosmonauts Leonid Kizim and Vladimir Solovyov on Friday maneuvered their Soyuz T-15 spacecraft into an orbital path leading to a rendezvous with the Soviet Union’s big new space station, the news agency Tass said.
The two veteran cosmonauts, who hold the 238-day world record for space endurance, blasted off Thursday and were to dock today with the new station, called Mir (Peace).
According to Tass, both cosmonauts are in good health and the mission is proceeding normally toward a linkup with the orbital laboratory, which was launched without a crew on Feb. 20.
