Reagan’s Bid for Contra Aid
Congress must support President Reagan in his effort to change the dictatorship in Nicaragua to a democratic government. Our national security demands that we cannot permit Russia to get a foothold in Central America. If Russia should get established in Nicaragua, it would imperil Central America, including Mexico.
Europe paid a fearful price for ignoring the danger of Hitler. We would eventually pay an equally high price if we permit Russia to get established in Nicaragua. It will be much cheaper to give the contras everything they need to force the change in Nicaragua to a democratic government.
