A Penn State artificial heart was implanted in an unemployed factory worker whose body was rejecting a transplanted human heart, making him the second recipient of the new-model blood pump, the Hershey Medical Center said in Harrisburg, Pa. Robert Cresswell, 48, of Huntingdon, whose transplanted human heart had stopped twice in three days, received the artificial device in an eight-hour operation at Hershey Medical Center, hospital spokesman Dr. John Burnside said. He said the bionic pump would be in place until a new human donor heart could be found.
