Jail OKd Near Anaheim Stadium
From Associated Press
Despite protests from Disneyland, the California Angels and one dissenting supervisor, the Orange County Board of Supervisors voted 4 to 1 today to build a 1,000-bed jail across from Anaheim Stadium.
The vote came after a two-hour debate and two days before Sheriff Brad Gates was to face Los Angeles federal Judge William Gray with arguments on why the sheriff should not be held in contempt of court for failure to alleviate overcrowding at the county’s central jail.
