South Pasadena : City Hall Renovation Begins

Workers this week began disassembling the Police and Fire Department stations brick by brick as the first phase of remodeling the 74-year-old South Pasadena City Hall. The $2.6-million project is expected to take about 14 months to complete, City Manager John Bernardi said.

The project will include construction of 16,000 square feet of new space to house police and fire personnel and a new City Council chamber, Bernardi said. It also includes remodeling of the basement of the current City Hall annex, built in 1965 to accommodate overflow from the older building. During construction of their new quarters, police officers and firefighters will squeeze into the annex, which now houses the city’s administrative staff.
