Division I Roundup : Texas Slips Past Mississippi
Beverly Williams scored 20 points and ignited a second-half rally Saturday night that sparked top-seeded and unbeaten Texas to a 66-63 victory over Mississippi in the Women’s NCAA Midwest Regional final at Austin, Tex.
Texas (32-0) will meet Western Kentucky in the semifinals next Friday at Lexington, Ky.
Western Kentucky 89, Rutgers 74--Kami Thomas scored 22 points and Lillie Mason had 18 points and 16 rebounds to help Western Kentucky win the Women’s NCAA East Regional final at Philadelphia.
Western Kentucky (32-3), which lost in the national semifinals last year, will be the only team in the 1985 Final Four to return this season.
Tennessee 67, LSU 65--Sheila Frost scored 19 points and Shelley Sexton added 17 to lead Tennessee to a come-from-behind win in the Women’s NCAA Mideast Regional final at Iowa City.
The Lady Volunteers (25-6) face USC in Friday’s Final Four semifinals.
