Down Home in the Big City

I think Al Martinez’s columns are great. It’s a real pleasure to find warmth and wit and honest self-disclosure--and a down-home feeling--in a big-city paper such as The Times.

My first reaction was to write to you to say, “Hey! This guy’s too good for ‘just’ the Westside edition. He should be enjoyed by everyone.” Then I thought, “Aw, hell with it. Just pay the guy more so we’ll be sure he sticks around.”

Anyway, he’s a good choice. Thanks.
