Deere will cut its salaried U.S. work force by 6%.

A Deere & Co. spokesman said that 750 employees will be affected by the cuts, which will take place over the next two months because of the continuing slump in the farm equipment market. The cutbacks will affect employees at a variety of Deere installations and will result in the Moline, Ill., firm taking a special second-quarter charge of $30 million to $35 million, Deere said.
