Struggling Computer Firm Reports 3rd-Quarter Loss

Key Image Systems, a struggling Chatsworth maker of computer systems that use video cameras to identify images, reported a narrowed loss of $248,300, or 20 cents a share, on sales of $442,500 in the third quarter ended Dec. 31.

The company also disclosed it is having cash-flow shortages that could lead to “serious liquidity problems.” As a result, Key Images said, it is attempting to sell assets and find new sources of funds.

During the third quarter the previous year, Key Image lost $581,200, or 49 cents a share, on sales of $100,300.

For the nine months ended Dec. 31, Key Image lost $1.3 million, or $1.04 a share, on sales of $1.3 million. In the corresponding period the year before, it lost $1.8 million, or $1.47 a share, on revenue of $440,900.
