A House subcommittee will examine the award of military contracts to small and disadvantaged businesses at a hearing in Los Angeles April 3. The Small Business subcommittee with jurisdiction over the Small Business Administration and minority enterprises will look into allegations that small businesses in California are denied a fair share of federal military contracts. Rep. Esteban E. Torres (D-La Puente), a committee member, said the panel has statistics showing that several military installations in California failed to award enough contracts to both small and minority-owned small businesses to meet annual goals. The hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. in Room 150 of the Los Angeles County Hall of Records.
